Anna C. Martin, Ph.D., Research Scientist

Anna C. Martin, Ph.D., is an experienced evaluator of health and social programs, with a strong interest in participatory research and evaluation. She received her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in 1989, where she wrote her dissertation on empowerment in the context of a community health worker program in Baltimore, Maryland. Her evaluation experience includes serving as director of evaluation for The National Center on Family Homelessness and as Senior Associate at BTW Consultants, a consulting firm working with non-profits and foundations in Berkeley, California. She has also worked in sub-Saharan Africa, where she first experienced participatory action research. Anna's current work as an evaluator with the Youth Empowerment Strategies (YES!) program focuses on conducting case studies and working with the program to gather lessons learned and integrate them into the program and evaluation design.
